Ganesh immersion this year in Hyderabad will be different

KTR wants GHMC officials to chalk out quick plan.

Hyderabad: There will be certain changes in the Ganesh immersions at Tank Bund this year. Immersions are likely to be done towards the foreshores area, away from the bund side so that the HMDA can remove the idols soon, before they can sink deep.

Minister for municipal administration K.T. Rama Rao has directed the engineering wings of the GHMC and HMDA to chalk out areas where immersions will cause less pollution to the lake.

Meanwhile the Rs 350-crore Hussainsagar cleaning and catchment area improvement project comes to an end on July 24. The project, which started in 2007 when the Congress government was in power, was supposed to de-silt and divert the nala to improve the lake’s water quality.

The minister has thus asked the Pollution Control Board to inspect and check the water quality and the effectiveness of the project. Meanwhile following increasing complaints of damaged roads on the MyGHMC app, the mayor has directed staff to repair all potholes in the GHMC limits by deploying the Road Doctor. “Repairing teams will be on the job 24x7, these works will be taken up late at night to avoid traffic jams,” added mayor Mr Bonthu Rammohan.

In Hitec city area:
The west corridor of the city will be the first sector to witness the technology interventions of the smart city concept. The state government, Cisco Systems and Paradigm Mtuity will plan “Smart City Hyderabad” by identifying relevant technology interventions / use cases that can be used.

The tech interventions proposed to be implemented in Hitech City are Smart WiFi, Smart Parking, Parking Enforcement to detect No Parking and Violation events, Smart Lighting, Smart Transport, Smart Kiosks, Remote Expert Governance Services and Citizen Services portal and Citizens’ App.

GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said, “The results of the pilot phase will be carefully studied by key government officials. They will then advise Cisco and Mtuity on the technology interventions / use cases most relevant for bigger expansion across multiple pockets of Hyderabad.
