Top CPM leaders slam Kerala police

The cops failed not only to foil the attack but also to nab the culprits.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Top CPM leaders have slammed the police in connection with the violent clashes witnessed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam district during the last two days. The CPM leaders alleged that there was lapse on the part of police in preventing and containing violence in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam where CPM-BJP and CPM-SDPI workers clashed in different places. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan demanded a probe into the lapse on the part of police in Thiruvnanthapuram.

The district CPM leadership in Kollam had demanded the shifting of the city police commissioner in the wake of the clashes between party workers and SDPI activists in Chavara. LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan said the police had failed to contain violence in Thiruvananthapuram district. The attack on the district committee office happened in the presence of police personnel who were deployed there to provide security .

The cops failed not only to foil the attack but also to nab the culprits. All this proves the lack of vigil on the part of the police. Earlier, Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran and CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan accused the police of failing to check violence in the district .
