Hyderabad: Inter student beaten for being late

Hyderabad: An Inter II student who came 10 minutes late to class was allegedly beaten up by a lecturer of Omega Junior College in Habsiguda on Thursday. No complaint was lodged with the police,

Mr Rajababu alleged that when Saikrishna went late, lecturer Fayaz Ahmed who was taking the class beat him.

“He caught hold of his hair and hit the head to a bench. Saikrishna suffered a severe injury on the head. They took him to a hospital and after first aid took him back to the college.” Mr Rajababu alleged.

After Saikrishna returned home, his family noticed the injury and went to the college. By then the staff had left for home. “The principal apologised to us, but this is not fair on his part and on the lecturer’s part for treating a student so cruelly.” Mr Rajababu said.

Nacharam police said they had not received any complaint in this regard. “We will take necessary action if they lodge a complaint,” an official told this newspaper on being asked. The college management was not available to comment on the alleged assault.
