Kozhikode declared POCSO literate

The project submitted to DLSA is waiting for approval.

KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode City-Rural police districts were declared as total POCSO literate police districts on Tuesday. The declaration was made after these police districts successfully completed the programme ‘ALERT’ to make all police officers in Kozhikode City and Rural aware of the sections and procedures of POCSO Act 2012. The programme was envisaged as part of the NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection) Scheme envisaged by the District Legal Services Authority and Childline Kozhikode.

All the police officers in the district from the District Police Chief (City and Rural) to Junior CPOs were made literate about POCSO Act and its special ‘child friendly procedures’. The valedictory function and literacy declaration was conducted at Calicut Police Club. North zone Director General of Police Rajesh Dewan, IPS inaugurated the function. Officials said that their next mission was to conduct POCSO Alert sensitization workshops for 21,113 teachers in the district about child friendly laws with special emphasis on the provisions and procedures in the POCSO and JJ Act. The project submitted to DLSA is waiting for approval.
