New curriculum for CA course from November

All concerned should make use of the scheme so as to be spared of any future trouble, Mr Reddy told reporters here.

Kochi: A new scheme of curriculum and training for the CA course designed by the Committee for Review of Education and Training (CRET) of the ICAI will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November, said Mr M. Devaraja Reddy, national president, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), here on Tuesday. “The new syllabus will take into account the latest developments in accounting, auditing, finances and IT,” he said.

“The ICAI is helping the Central Government in bringing out the background material for the GST law and co-ordinating with the government for the success of the recently announced income disclosure scheme 2016. All concerned should make use of the scheme so as to be spared of any future trouble,” Mr Reddy told reporters here. The Accounting Research Foundation of the CA Institute is partnering with the Indian Railways in converting their accounting system into double entry, he said.

He also inaugurated the sub-regional conference of Chartered Accountants at IMA Hall here organised by the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of ICAI and hosted by Ernakulam branch in association with other Kerala branches of SIRC of ICAI. Addressing the conference, he said, “CA firms should undergo peer review by the ICAI and thereby improve their professional capability to cater to the wider needs of the clients. In future, peer-reviewed CA firms will get more professional opportunities than other firms ” he said.

He also highlighted the need for the members of the ICAI to have updated knowledge on the profession and be firm on values. Mr Babu Abraham Kalllivayalil, chairman, board of studies, ICAI, Mr Nihar N. Jambusaria, central council member, ICAI, and Mr Rajesh Sharma, central council member, ICAI, were among those who spoke.
