Why go soft on Joice George, Congress asks CPI

The Idukki MP has recently faced charges of encroaching land by the Devikulam sub-collector.

KOCHI: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said that he wondered why the CPI which took a strong stand against NCP leader Thomas Chandy has a soft approach towards Joice George, MP. The Idukki MP has recently faced charges of encroaching land by the Devikulam sub-collector. Addressing mediapersosn as part of a reception given to his march Padayorukkam in Kochi, Ramesh Chennithala said that the Chief Minister was concentrating on protecting encroachers while doing no home work on crucial issues affecting the people. "The state is facing a constitutional crisis with ministers moving in different directions and Chief Minister having no faith in his own ministers. The LDF rule is in the intensive care unit," Mr Chennithala said.

The Opposition leader said that the Chief Minister has scant respect for the mediapersons here while he has all respect for foreign journalists. He said that the intolerance of the Chief Minister to the media here was deplorable. The Opposition leader also said that the Chief Minister should come forward to register case against P. V. Anwar, MLA, who has built a water theme park violating all environment laws. Now he has been found evading tax also, he said. He attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that by involving Reliance in the Raphael deal with France in the guise of the Make in India programme, Mr Modi was creating the biggest financial scam of the country.
