The case had first investigated by local police and then probe was handed over to Crime Branch on April 20 citing no reasons.

ALAPPUZHA: The Special Temple Anti-Theft Squad (STATS) under the Kerala police is all set to probe the disappearance of holy pendants from Sreekrishna Swamy temple, Ambal-appuzha. The investigation by a team led by circle inspector R. Rajesh, (STATS), got under way after High Court issued the order on September 15. D. Subhash, a member, Karma Samiti, a devotee outfit, filed a petition seeking thorough investigation into the incident.

Mr Rajesh said that team is going through the initial proceedings of the case and will visit the temple as part of the probe soon. Meanwhile, the Devas-wom Vigilance probe found three more pendants and seven chains missing apart from the missing pendant. The case had first investigated by local police and then probe was handed over to Crime Branch on April 20 citing no reasons. The CB probe had found no progress despite six-month. Then weeks after the probe charge was handed over to local police. Following devotee outfit approached the High Court the CB returned the case to local police. None of the investigation has caught the culprits.

R. Sankaran Nair, Secretary, Karma Samithi, said that they were ready to share all information they have known to investigation officers. He alleged that the previous investigation officers were hesitant to question two senior members from the Kannamangalam family Brahmadattan Namboodiri and Kesavan Namboodiri who used the ornaments inside the sanctum sanctorum on the day it disappeared. We doubt they are being protected by the certain powerful people in the area.
