The Mayor said that there will be one more meeting with the Collector, KWA officials and others concerned to discuss the water supply issues, considering the acute shortage. The ministers will attend the next meeting on January 25.
Many councillors complained about the blocked drainages. Chalai councillor S.K. P. Ramesh said that a drain recently built as part of Operation Anantha was not yet functional as it is filled with soil. Some long- pending drainage construction works were brought up for discussion.

A Fire and Rescue Services official said no water would be available on the side roads. “The water tankers of Kerala Water Authority and the corporation serve mainly the main roads, ” he said. The meeting decided to take the help of revenue officials in this matter. Many government officials did not attend the preparatory meeting for Attukal Pongala on Tuesday. The issue was brought up by Mr K. Sreekumar, chairperson, health standing committee. “Officials who can authoritatively discuss the issues are not present. This was so in the last two meetings as well,” he said.
