Hyderabad: All irrigation projects in the state were overflowing on Saturday following two days of incessant rains across the state since Friday. Officials opened the gates on several irrigation projects to allow the excess water to flow away.

Ten gates were lifted at Nagarjunasagar to release 97,000 cusecs of water.
A weather bulletin issued by the government's TS Planning Development Society on Saturday said that the state could expect moderate rain or thundershowers at many places.

"The low-pressure area now lies over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal... It is expected to move towards Uttar Pradesh thereafter. Under its influence light to moderate rain/ thundershowers are expected at many places with heavy falls at isolated places for next two days," it said.

The bulletin added: "From 8 am of Sunday to 8 am of Monday, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Jagtial district. Light to moderate rain is expected in Nirmal, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Rajanna Siriclla, Medchal, Medak, Siddipet and Jangaon districts. Very light to light rain is expected all over the state."

During the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 101.1 mm was recorded at Burgampadu (Bhadradri Kothagudem).
