Death of youth while playing kabaddi in Andhra Pradesh

The incident occurred at the second session of the kabaddi post-lunch, the play being in the finals

Kadapa: A youth died in the ring during a district-level kabaddi competition held at a model school in Gangayapalli village in Valluru Mandal, police said on Sunday. He was M. Narendra (28) from Kondapeta village of the Chennur Mandal.

The incident occurred at the second session of the kabaddi post-lunch, the play being in the finals. He went to the opponent team player’s court, and while caught, he fell down. He rose from the fall, walked two steps and then fell down again. The co-players and the staff there gave him first-aid and he was immediately shifted to the Kadapa Government General Hospital RIMS. Doctors there confirmed that he was already dead.

Police said Narendra had completed his Master in Commerce. His parents were in the dhobi profession. He was having a brother and two sisters.

Kamalapuram MLA Pochamreddy Ravindranath Reddy said he was shocked to hear the news and got in touch with the local officials and leaders for providing necessary support and assistance to the family. The family members rushed to the hospital and were confused as he wasn't sick. The police said they would investigate the matter.
