Priority cards to get 35 kg rice: P Thilothaman

State largesse from Jan 15.

KOCHI: Food and Civil Supplies Minister P. Thilothaman said on Thursday that 35 kg of rice per month will be provided to the ration card holders in the priority list as per Food Security Act from January 15. While inaugurating the Supplyco X’Mas fair at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, he said that the non-priority customers will get 4 kg of rice and 1 kg of wheat. “Complaints on several ration card holders losing their priority status have come to the notice of the state government. The list will be revised continuously by including the eligible candidates and excluding others. Strict measures will be taken to prevent hoarding and black marketing,” he added.

Mr Prathapan said that the state government is proposed to implement a project under which essential goods including vegetables and fruits will be provided at reasonable price. As part of the project, market intervention will also be made more effective. The Christmas fair will be open from 9 am to 8 pm till December 24.
