Four including BCA student die in mishaps

Anand was riding his bike with his friend Naresh on pillion when he lost control and fell on the road.

Chennai: Four persons, including a BCA student, were killed in four different road mishaps in South Chennai since Friday night.

Police said that S. Anand, a first year BCA student of a private college who was driving his bike was killed after he was run over by a tipper lorry near Medavakkam junction on Saturday afternoon. Anand was riding his bike with his friend Naresh on pillion when he lost control and fell on the road.

The tipper lorry, which was closely following the bike, ran over Anand killing him on the spot. His friend Naresh who suffered injuries had been admitted to hospital.

A 30-year-old building construction supervisor was killed on Tambaram – Velachery road when a water tanker ran over him on Friday night near Pallikaranai. The deceased was identified as Praveen of Kuberan Nagar in Madipakkam.

Another resident of Madipakkam, who had been running a road side eatery was killed when the two wheeler on which he was travelling collided with a loaded auto on Medavakkam main road on early Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Raja, 42.

In another road mishap, a 42-year-old painter, named Karikalan of Alandur died after he lost control of his two wheeler and smashed against road median on GST Road near old airport on early Saturday morning.

He was going towards Pallavaram when the vehicle in front of him braked suddenly. He tried to turn his vehicle to avoid hitting the vehicle in front. In the process he lost control and hit the central median. He suffered head injuries and died.
