Celebrations in govt schools till Aug. 22

HYDERABAD: Schools in the city celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag, students dressing up as freedom fighters as well as presenting cultural performances. They carried placards and charts that displayed slogans and conducted a rally near their schools. Many schools that give a holiday every year decided to celebrate Independence Day on Monday. Headmasters said that the students took part in all the cultural activities and sports competitions with utmost enthusiasm. Schools snacks to students. Students performed skits where they portrayed freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh and more as also Rani Lakshmi Bai. Several schools distributed medals to students who won prizes for competitions. The celebrations will continue in government schools till August 22 as part of the government’s Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu.
