Corona sets new record with 8,818 fresh cases in Karnataka

Bengaluru witnessed the highest ever single day spike of 3,495 fresh Corona positive cases on Saturday.

The state's corona count which crossed two lakh mark recently, went on to record 8,818 fresh cases. This is also the highest ever fresh load reported in a day in Karnataka.

The total Corona positive in Karnataka now stands at 2,19,926.

The number of people succumbing to the deadly virus every day is crossing one century. Since Friday evening, the state has lost 114 lives to the infection. Bengaluru remains a major contributor to the list with 35 deaths from the city.

There were 6,629 discharges on Saturday bringing the total active caseload to 82,958. Bengaluru has the highest active case load in Karnataka with 34,860 cases.

Karnataka's recovery rate just crossed 60 percent on Saturday and stands at 60.53 percent. This has given a boost to the officials of the health department as the recovery numbers which were below 30 per cent in the past weeks have gradually picked up when compared to the national recovery rate.

The national recovery rate stands at 71.17 percent. While the national fatality rate is at 1.94 percent, Karnataka's mortality rate stands at 1.74 percent.

As regards to details on the number of tests released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the state is nearing 20 lakh tests and has till date carried out 19.93 lakh tests. On an average the state is carrying out more than 50,000 tests everyday.
