Hadiya is unhappy, says M C Josephine

Ms Josephine had come under flak for not visiting Hadiya who had become a victim of 'love jihad'.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hadiya who is in the custody of her parents may be safe, but is unhappy, according to Ms M. C. Josephine, Kerala Women's Commission chairperson. "It is the family's responsibility to keep her hale and hearty," Ms Josephine told reporters at the commission adalat held at Thycaud rest house here. Ms Josephine had come under flak for not visiting Hadiya who had become a victim of 'love jihad'. Ms Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, who visited Hadiya recently, had said that Hadiya was safe and happy.

However, Ms Josephine disputed her claim and said that Hadiya's father K. M. Ashokan had not allowed her to visit his daughter. "Only those whom Ashokan allows get the nod to meet his daughter. However, this is applicable only until November 27 when she has to be produced before the Supreme Court," said Ms Josephine. The situation would change post-November 27. She had asked the police personnel guarding Hadiya to ensure that she does not undergo any pressure before or during her trip to New Delhi.
