Children-friendly police station at Kadavanthra

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Mission during a function held at Thiruvananthapuram.

KOCHI: As a unique gift to children, Kadavanthara police station, one of the child-friendly police stations in the state was inaugurated on Children’s Day on Tuesday. The project was undertaken as part of the community policing initiative.
It is part of the Kerala police’s Children and Police (CAP) Mission for the care and protection of children. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Mission during a function held at Thiruvananthapuram. “Police force is for the total protection and care of the public. Implementation of people and children-friendly Missions in police station provide a safe feeling to the public” said A.R Premkumar, Deputy Police Commissioner Administration, Kochi.

CAP mission will be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram, Kadavanthra, Thrissur town east, Kollam east, Kozhikode town and Kannur town police stations in the first phase. The children’s police station was opened in a festive mood at Kadavanthra with the participation of students from nearby schools and Kudumbasree Mission members. A rally of school students displaying posters of social awareness added colour to the inaugural ceremony. The station compound and walls were designed with cartoons and painted in blue and pink. The children’s area is air-conditioned with toys and reading materials. It also has a bed and cradle for kids. City police commissioner M.P. Dinesh, Ernakulam range IG P. Vijayan, Mayor Soumini Jain, K V Thomas MP, Hibi Eden MLA and other dignitaries were present.
