21,200 special buses for Deepavali

An official release said that a total of 11,225 buses would be operated from Chennai while 10,064 buses would be operated from other parts.

Chennai: To help people commute to their native places for Deepavali, which falls on October 29, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations would operate 21,200 special buses from Chennai and other places on three days from October 26 to 28.

To avoid traffic in and around Koyambedu and to ease the travel of long route passengers, the buses from the city would be operated from five different locations including Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus at Koyambedu.

As per the plan, the buses plying to Andhra Pradesh via Redhills will start from Anna Nagar (West) MTC bus terminus. The buses plying to Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram via East Coast Road and Kancheepuram will be operated from State Election Commission office opposite to CMBT. All buses including State Express Transport Corporation plying to Kumbakonam and Thanjavur via Tindivanam and Vikravandi will start from Tambaram Sanatorium (MEPZ) bus terminus.

The buses plying via Poonamallee to Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupathur and Hosur will be operated from Poonamallee bus terminus. For rest of the places including Salem, Coimbatore, Nagapattinam and Southern districts, the bus will be operated from CMBT as usual.

MTC also announced operation of 200 special link buses on October 26, 27 and 28 from various parts of the city to Anna Nagar (West), Tambaram Sanatorium (MEPZ) and Poonamallee bus terminus.
