One withdraws complaint against V A Zakir Hussain

Zakir Hussain allegedly intervened in the matter and threatened the complainant to settle the issue for half the amount he demanded.

Kochi: A day after he lodged a complaint with Eloor police against Zakir Hussain, Manjummal native George Deepak Prince on Sunday reportedly approached police higher-ups stating he had been forced to give a statement against the former CPM area secretary. The other day, a policeman at the Eloor station had recorded the statement of Deepak when he reached there to follow up on his earlier plaint against one Niyas Vattekkunnu, a second hand car dealer.
As per the complaint filed on October 29, Deepak had rented a Maruti Swift car from Niyas for Rs 1.5 lakh which met with an accident. Soon Niyas took back the car without the former’s permission.

When the complainant sought the money back, Niyas refused to give the same. Following this, Zakir Hussain allegedly intervened in the matter and threatened the complainant to settle the issue for half the amount he demanded. Meanwhile, another complainant Jube Poulose, who had earlier filed a case for alleged abduction and threatening against Hussain, gave statement before Elamaram Karim, Central Committee member of CPM at the Ernakulam Guest House.
