Manchal inspector faces disciplinary action

A video shot by one of the bikers went viral on social media prompting IT minister KTR to tweet it to the DGP asking him to take action.

Hyderabad: Two days after the Manchal incident in which a bike rally organiser was assaulted by Manchal inspector, the police initiated disciplinary action against him. In a reply to IT minister KTR, the DGP said that an inquiry has been launched.

A video shot by one of the bikers went viral on social media prompting IT minister KTR to tweet it to the DGP asking him to take action. DGP Anurag Sharma replied attaching an explanation from the Cyberabad East commissionerate.

“The incident happened due to the adamant attitude of the rally organisers. They created panic in Manchal. However, we started action against the highhandedness of the inspector,” said the reply.

At least 51 national level bike racers participating in The MRF Mogrip FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2016 were detained by Manchal police for allegedly violating road rules on Sunday. The riders, including three women and organisers, were kept at the police station till late in the night without giving any reason.

Meanwhile, the video showing race organiser Mazdayar K. being assaulted and abused by Manchal inspector M. Gangadhar surfaced on social network sites and it went viral soon.
