Protest against facism trends in Kerala

Flash mobs were conducted at different parts of the city on Friday as part of the programme.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The secretariat gate saw a different kind of protest by Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) against fascism here on Saturday. the event titled Irakal varakalilude, a canvas of protest drawn by the artists of Nizhalattam, portrayed crusaders from Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to Dalit scholar Rohit Vemula who was driven to suicide by authorities.

“We chose different medium so that all the people in the society, especially youth, can be attracted towards the issue beyond politics. Fascism is a grave issue and our fight is against such forces, be it the RSS or ISIS”, said Saju, DYFI district secretary.

Flash mobs were conducted at different parts of the city on Friday as part of the programme. A sand sculpture will be made on on the Shanghumughom beach which is also the venue of DYFI's programme Yuvasagaram which will be attended by thousands of youths from across the state. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the meeting at the Shanghumughom beach on August 15.
