Attack on Dalit student: Gandhinagar police yet to record arrest of SFI activists

A member of the Ambedkar Students Movement, he was admitted to the surgical ward of the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Kottayam: The Gandhinagar police said it would arrest four SFI activists who allegedly attacked a Dalit MPhil research student in his hostel room at the MG University.

Sub-inspector M.J. Arun said the SFI activists attacked Vivek Kumar, a research student at the department of Gandhian thought and a native of Kalady, Tuesday night, and seriously injured him.

A member of the Ambedkar Students Movement, he was admitted to the surgical ward of the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. His statement to the police said he was called by his caste name and even threatened with death. He was taken to the hospital by his hostel mates.
