HM functionary murder: NIA to question more suspects

After getting vital information, the NIA raided the houses of Mubaraq , Sadam Husain, Subair and Abudhagir and seized sim' cards and CDs.

Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) plans to interrogate 13 more Muslim youth from Coimbatore, suspected to be involved in the murder of Hindu Munnani (HM) spokesperson Sasi Kumar here more than a year ago.

Earlier, CB-CID officials had lodged a complaint and arrested Mubaraq 35, Sadam Husain 27, Subair, 33, and Abudhagir, 32, in connection with the murder. Suspecting the involvement of more members from the Popular Front of India (PFI), the case was handed over to the NIA, it may be recalled.

After getting vital information, the NIA raided the houses of Mubaraq , Sadam Husain, Subair and Abudhagir and seized ‘sim’ cards and CDs. Further investigations revealed the connection of more persons in the case, they said.

Meanwhile, 30 officials from the NIA raided five houses and a workshop of a suspected Muslim youth in the early hours of Wednesday and seized memory storage devices, laptops, mobile phones and 50 ‘sim’ cards.

The five youth were identified as Bebin Rehman, Aneesh , Hyder Ali, Sadam Husain and Mohamed Ali, and they were summoned to appear for further enquiry at the Race Course office on Thursday. All the five with their family members petitioned city police commissioner, Mr. K. Periaiah, alleging harassment by the NIA. A police higher official said that NIA has decided to interrogate 13 more persons in connection with the case.
