TDP stages protest at TTD’s Palamaner Goshala, alleges illegal cattle shifting

The TTD refuted the charge and said there has been no misappropriation in the distribution of cows and bulls to farmers

Tirupati: Telugu Desam activists led by former Minister Amarnath Reddy and TDP Chittoor parliament president Pulivarthi Nani on Monday staged a protest at TTD’s Goshala in Palamaner, alleging that the ruling YSRC men are illegally shifting the cattle from the Goshala to Ongole.

Alleging that the ruling party men are illegally taking away cows and bulls from the Goshala in the guise of farmers, they stalled the shifting of cattle from the Goshala by the TTD.

The TTD refuted the charge and said there has been no misappropriation in the distribution of cows and bulls to farmers. Speaking to the media at Palamaner, Amarnath accused the YSRC government of hatching a conspiracy to shift the TTD Goshala from Palamaner.

“Many devotees have donated cows to TTD Goshala. But YSRC men are trying to do away with the TTD Goshala by illegally shifting the cows and bulls to Ongole and other places. Those who do not have land in their names are producing xerox copies of other farmers’ passbooks and taking away the cattle,” he alleged.

Questioning the motive behind the shifting of cows and bulls from the Goshala even as the devotees are donating crores of rupees for its maintenance, the former minister said the TD would launch an agitation if the state government did not stop the shifting of cows to slaughter houses.

TTD said in a statement on Monday that the temple body has taken up the Gau-based farming and has been organising a lot of cow-related programmes. As part of these, the TTD has been distributing cows and oxen to farmers.

“This programme is taken forward in a transparent manner and the TTD has been distributing cows to only such farmers as are registered with the AP Community Managed Natural Farming scheme. So far cows and oxen were distributed only to such farmers in the Rayalaseema districts, Nellore, Prakasam and Nagar Kurnool of Telangana state,” the TTD explained.

It added that it was unfortunate some vested interests were trying to mislead the public by spreading rumours and alleging that the TTD was distributing the bovines to those who did not have pass books.
