IIM Kozhikode backed initiative tries to promote startup ecosystem

Two weeks after Startup Saturdays started, the forum is going to get its first international speaker on February 11.

KOZHIKODE: Come Saturday, majority of aspiring entrepreneurs in Kozhikode come together for ‘Startup Saturdays’ programme where they dream of growing big. The Headstart Network Foundation with the support of Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode, came up with the idea of Startup Saturdays in January, to develop a better ecosystem for city ‘Startups’. “Startup Saturday is a popular event organised by Headstart Network Foundation, a non-profit organisation. It helps early stage startups and aspiring entrepreneurs by providing guidance, mentorship and support they need to turn their dreams into reality," said Mehar Moosa, the coordinator of Kerala Start Up Mission and Headstart District chapter.

“At Startup Saturdays, we invite nationally and internationally acclaimed speakers in the sector to talk to entrepreneurs as they share inspiration and insights on launching and running a startup. One could get all their queries answered and interact with a like-minded group of fellow entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts to deepen knowledge about the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India,” he added. Two weeks after Startup Saturdays started, the forum is going to get its first international speaker on February 11. Johann Nogueira from Australia, a serial entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Nogueira Alliance Pvt Ltd will speak on the theme ‘Build A Team’ at IIM-K campus from 2 pm to 5 pm.
