Police to probe APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University paper leak'

Tech varsity to form two-member panel to verify allegations on social media.

Thiruvananthapuram: The APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has sought a police inquiry into the leakage of the BTech question paper. It was alleged that the woman teacher who set the question paper of the applied electromagnetic theory paper of BTech fifth semester electronic and communication had leaked it. The examination committee of the university which met here on Friday discussed the preliminary report and submitted a petition to city police commissioner P. Prakash. The university sought an inquiry by the cyber cell as the paper was leaked by the teacher to her students through WhatsApp.

The university provided the preliminary inquiry report and the copies of WhatsApp messages to the police. The meeting also decided to constitute a two-member committee consisting of one teacher each of College of Engineering, Trivandrum and Government Engine-ering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, for conducting a detailed inquiry into the allegations. The committee will take evidence from the teacher and also visit the college where she was teaching. The committee has been asked to submit the report before December 13.

The university has asked the police to find the source circulating the messages about the university through the social media, Pro-Vice-Chancellor M. Abdul Rahman told Deccan Chronicle. One such message was that the examinations scheduled to begin on December 4 were postponed. There was also a campaign that the question paper of the microprocessor paper held on December 8 was leaked. During the last examinations also such messages were being circulated even using the emblem of the university. The photos and name of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor and other officials were being misused for circulating such fake news, said Mr Rahman.
