All India Trade Union Congress unions threatens stir

The union was also planning to go for an indefinite strike if the salaries are not paid before December 22.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Transport Employees Union, affiliated to the AITUC, the trade union wing of CPI, has said it will launch an agitation, including picketing of the Transport Bhavan, on December 15 protesting against the delay in the disbursal of salaries and pensions for November. Union president and AITUC state general secretary K.P. Rajendran submitted a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan urging his intervention to provide financial assistance to pay salaries and pensions.

Union general secretary M.G. Rahul said that as a prelude to the agitation, the union would conduct dharnas in all depots of the KSRTC from December 9. The union was also planning to go for an indefinite strike if the salaries are not paid before December 22. Meanwhile, Transport Democratic Front (TDF) affiliated to the Congress led trade union INTUC organised a black day on Thursday raising the delay in salaries. TDF conducted dharna in front of all depots. The workers belonging to the unions reported for duty wearing black badges. They have also threatened to go in for an indefinite strike if the salaries were not paid immediately.
