US navy wins Admiral's Cup at sailing regatta

In individual men's category, midshipman Peter Hogan of USA, won International Admiral's Cup Sailing Regatta 2017 .

EZHIMALA: ‘Team USA’ represented by midshipman Peter Hogan and midshipman Brittney Slook led by Lieutenant Sarah Bull won the Admiral’s Cup, the annual five-day sailing regatta held at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala on Thursday. The ‘Team India’ represented by cadet Praveen Prabhakar and cadet Aviral Keshav led by Lieutenant Ashutosh Sharma emerged runners u. ‘Team Australia’ represented by sub lieutenant Alix Peruzzis and midshipman Bryson Carew led by Lieutenant Duncan McCowan finished third.

In individual men’s category, midshipman Peter Hogan of USA, won International Admiral’s Cup Sailing Regatta 2017 followed by cadet Praveen Prabhakar of Indian Naval Academy in second position and 2nd lieutenant Ebrahim Show-aiter (Bahrain) in the third position. In Individual Women's Category, midshipman Brittney Slook of USA won followed by midshipman Anna Zelazna of Poland in 2nd and Cadet Desi Sundari of Indonesia in third position.

In total 28 teams including international teams representing Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, Egypt, Fiji, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam, are participating in the five-day sailing competition. Each team comprises of two boats each totaling 58 participants, including six female participants. The event has become very popular since its inception in 2010.
