TIRUCHY: A 23-year-old woman residing at suburb Vazhavandhankottai near here approached the Tiruchy district collector, K S Palanisamy, and sought his help to get back her husband, who is allegedly tortured by his employer at Dubai.
In her memorandum to the collector, Mrs.Vimaladevi, mother of two daughters said her husband Sudhakar went to Dubai for a welder's job. Till recently, her husband used to talk to her over phone regularly, but there was no calls for the past few days, she said.
Meantime, a man who rang her up and told her that "your husband is mentally ill, and we will send him to Tiruchy and the flight will reach there around 1400 hours." Acting on that piece of information, Vimaladevi and her relatives waited at Tiruchy airport on a particular day recently, but her husband did not come, she added.
Subsequently, her uncle had received a WhatsApp video recording, in which they saw that her husband's hands and legs were tied with a rope and was being ‘tortured’ by somebody, she said, adding they had no clue whether her husband is alive or not.
Mr. Palanisamy assured the hapless woman that he will forward her memorandum to the Union External Affairs Ministry through the Tamil Nadu government for suitable action.
