Spot admissions in Kannur and Karuna medical colleges

The Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James had cancelled the admissions to all seats in these colleges.

Thiruvananthapuram: With the Kerala High Court on Thursday directing the authorities to conduct spot admissions in Kannur and Karuna medical colleges, the common counselling process scheduled by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations (CEE) would go ahead as per schedule on Friday. The Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James had cancelled the admissions to all seats in these colleges.

However, the High Court made it clear that the students who have been already admitted by the colleges, even if they have not submitted any fresh online application pursuant to the recent notification issued by the CEE, should be considered as valid applicants. KMCT Medical College, Kozhikode, has already accepted the CEE directive that admissions to all seats would be based on the common counselling process. The CEE should supervise the admission procedure. The rank list should be prepared completely from the NEET list and the commissioner should ensure this, the HC order issued by Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon and Justice P. Somarajan said.

The CEE had published the list of candidates who had registered online for allotment based on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) rank list to all MBBS seats in the Karuna Medical College, Kannur Medical College and KMCT Medical College and to vacant management and NRI seats in all other private self-financing medical colleges. The list has been published on the websitewww.cee.kerala.gov.in.

The spot allotment on the basis of this list would be held at the old auditorium of the Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, from 9 a.m. on October 7. The authorities of the respective colleges would be present at the time of the spot admission. A detailed notification on the fee rates, seats available in various categories in different colleges and certificates to be submitted has been given on the website.
