Parents have no clue about reason for his suicide: SI.

Hyderabad: A 16-year-old intermediate student of Sri Chaitanya jumped to death at his relative’s house in KPHB on Friday. Mallavarapu Bhavan who was asleep, suddenly woke up and ran on to the balcony screaming loudly and jumped from the fourth floor. Police said that the reason behind the suicide is not known and even the parents are clueless about the incident. Sub-inspector B. Raju Yadav from KPHB police station said, “We are in the process of collecting more details by talking to the family and friends. Based on the evidence collected, the investigation will proceed,” the SI said.

Bhavan, hailing from Warangal district, was an inter first year student at Sri Chaitanya College, at Narsingi. He had appeared for the first year final examination in March. After the college declared summer vacation on Thurs-day evening, his father M. Sharatraju, a head constable at Warangal, called Bhavan’s maternal uncle Vikram who resides at KPHB and requested him to take Bhavan to his house. Bhavan reached his uncle’s home in the evening and had spent time with his uncle’s family till night. At night, Vikram and and his wife Ramya slept in the bedroom, while Bhavan, along with another relative Venkatasai Kiran slept in the hall.

Around 3.15 am, Vikram and his wife woke up to loud screams and noticed that Bhavan had opened the door towards the balcony and had run on to the balcony screaming loudly. By the time, the couple ran behind him, he jumped from the balcony of their apartment on the fourth floor and received severe injuries to the head and other body parts. “He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. His parents are clueless about the reason behind the suicide,” said SI Raju Yadav.

Cried out for his aunt before jumping

Aththa aththa aththa (aunt in Telugu), were the last words of Bhavan before he jumped to death. The incident happened a few hours before he was supposed to go home to Warangal for the summer vacation. Bhavan who had come to his maternal uncle Vikram’s home on Thursday evening had spent his time jovially, cracking jokes with his uncle, his wife Ramya and their relative. Bhavan’s father works in the armed reserve wing of the police department, while his mother Usharani is a government teacher.

Bhavan had always been pampered by his maternal grandparents and uncle Vikram from childhood and so it was his regular routine to come to their house at KPHB before going to his parents. His grandparents, who were very fond of Bhavan, had been informed of his sudden death, while they were away from the city to attend a relative’s wedding. A relative said that he was very normal and calm the whole day and did not complain or speak about any unusual things. “He had biryani with the uncle’s family at home and slept after watching cricket. Saikiran slept a little early as he had a leg injury, while Bhavan remained awake watching cricket,” they said.

Another relative who visited the family said that he woke up from his sleep suddenly, as if he had had a nightmare, and was shocked that it had affected him so badly as to make him take this extreme step. Bhavan is remembered as a jovial student who is very good at academics. “Though he was a happy-go-lucky kind of person, he was focussed on his studies and had high aims for the future,” said his friends. The body was handed over to the family, after an autopsy.
