Amalapuram MP P. Ravindra Babu said the Konaseema region was playing a crucial role in the promotion of tourism in the state.

Amalapuram: Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa has promised to develop the Konaseema area as a tourism hub similar to Kerala. He was speaking at the inauguration of “Konaseema Utsav 2016” at Muramalla village of I. Polavaram mandal in East Godavari on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy CM said that they were celebrating the festival to protect and preserve the culture and traditions in the region and to put the region on the world map.

He said that by the next Konaseema festival, they would develop several tourism projects at S. Yanam, Bodasakurru, Antarvedi, Vodalarevu and other areas and added that both the Centre and state government were coming up with plans to promote tourism in a big way.

He said that as the state government had announced nine state festivals last year in several districts in the state, they were organising three festivals in East Godavari district and added that the festival would continue for a period of five days up to April 10.

Amalapuram MP P. Ravindra Babu said the Konaseema region was playing a crucial role in the promotion of tourism in the state. District Collector H. Arun Kumar said they had already organised a beach festival at Kakinada and tribal festival at Maredumilli successfully and added that they were now organising the Konaseema festival. He also hoped the Konaseema festival would fetch more credit to East Godavari in the promotion of tourism.
