IDECK officials hold first meet with mayor; Ideas from people shared

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Representatives of Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (IDECK), which is assisting the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in its bid for Smart City project, on Friday held their first wide-ranging discussions with the Mayor and standing committee chairpersons. During the two sessions, the team had preliminary discussions on ideas that the corporation received through meetings held in all 100 wards and with various stake holders.

IDECK representatives are likely to be in capital for next couple of months to hold further discussions with the corporation authorities and various sections of society. The corporation had reached out to more than 20,000 people to seek their suggestions. The civic body had also conducted painting and essay competitions for college and school students. A consortium which includes the company as well as its local partner CMD will assist Thiruvananthapuram in preparing the smart city proposal document.

The consultancy will be consolidating suggestions, and identifying sectors from which most number of suggestions have come. Experts from a few of these sectors will be contacted for a second-level of consultation. The meeting on Friday was attended by Town Planning Committee chairman R Satheeshkumar, Development Committee chairman Vanchiyoor P. Babu, Health Standing committee chairman K. Sreekumar and Corporation Secretary M. Nizarudeen.
