CPM seeks cadre help in missions

Haritha Kerala Mission will focus on waste management, conservation of water resources and organic farming.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretariat on Friday called upon the workers of party and mass organisations to take up activities related Nava Kerala Mission beginning with the launch of Haritha Kerala Mission on December 8. The mission is aimed at preserving water sources, ponds, lakes and streams, encouraging organic vegetable cultivation and comprehensive waste disposal programme. The secretariat has asked the party workers to put their everything behind these programmes to help the LDF government effectively implement the promises made in its manifesto.

The party has asked the cadre to be wary of the false propaganda against the government and attempts from certain quarters to divert the attention of people from the government's development agenda. Haritha Kerala Mission which is the first of the four missions to be launched, will focus on waste management, conservation of water resources and organic farming. People’s participation will be ensured for the implementation of system of waste disposal at source, modernisation of water sources, creation of new water use culture, revival of existing ponds and streams.

In second phase, rivers and lakes will be taken up. The secretariat pointed out that increasing the area of organic farming by using large tracts of barren land, terraces, kitchen gardens was one of the main objectives of Haritha Mission. The party cadre will carry out door to door campaigns on importance of bio gas system, proper disposal of e-waste, hospital waste, modern-scientific centralised plants for cities to make Kerala zero waste state in five years. The party has also asked its workers to actively participate in the other three missions; housing, education and health care sectors.
