RFO injured by a tiger in Bandipur

Raghavendra was at Kallipura after villagers complained that they had sighted tiger in the vicinity.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Range Forest Officer (RFO) in charge of Gopalaswamy Betta range, Raghavendra Agase came under attack from a tiger in a village-Kallipura of Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district on Monday during a search operation. He escaped with injuries while the tiger fled the spot.

Conservator of Forests and Director of Bandipur National Park, Balachandra told Deccan Chronicle that Raghavendra was observing pug marks when the tiger pounced on him from behind the bushes and bite him in the thigh besides attacking him with its paws.

The screams of people who were nearby made the tiger flee the spot and the injured Raghavendra was rushed to a hospital in Gundlupet before being shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru.
