Special wing at city GGH for government staff, pensioners

HYDERABAD: NTR district collector S. Dilli Rao inaugurated a special out-patient wing for government employees and pensioners in the super speciality block of the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Vijayawada on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilli Rao pointed out that the special wing has been created as there are around 1.4 lakh in-service and retired people undergoing treatment under the Employees' Health Scheme (EHS) scheme. They include 25,000 government employees, teachers and RTC workers and 23,000 government pensioners, apart from their family members.

In keeping with the numbers, state government has directed all government hospital administrators to provide a special outpatient wing for those getting treatment under the EHS scheme.

The collector said this is a first of its kind facility, where the EHS wing will have a specialist doctor, two assistant doctors, and four nursing staff.

Giving details, Dilli Rao said gastroenterology service will be available every Monday, general medicine and mental diseases on Tuesday, heart and kidney ailments on Wednesday, orthopaedics and neurology on Thursday, skin issues and general medicine on Friday, and lungs and general medical treatments on Saturday. These services can be availed from 10 am to 1 pm on these days.

NTR district APNGO Association president A. Vidyasagar, Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Health Care Trust district coordinator Dr J. Suman, hospital superintendent Dr Sowbhagya Lakshsmi, RMOs Manga Devi and Shobha Rani, Siddhartha Medical College principal Dr Vithal Rao and GGH doctors Venkata Ramaiah and Nageswara were among those who participated in the function.
