Former Isro chief writing his memoir

Mr Radhakrishnan, whose passion is singing, sang his favourite ragas Bhairavi, Kamboji, Atana and Abheri on Wednesday at a concert in Chennai.

Chennai: Having performed in five concerts after retirement from Isro in 2014, former Isro chairman K Radhakrishnan is now working on a memoir that would shed light on his eventful tenure at the country’s top space agency.

Mr Radhakrishnan, whose passion is singing, sang his favourite ragas Bhairavi, Kamboji, Atana and Abheri on Wednesday at a concert in Chennai. He has performed for Chennai audience at least in three occasions, including Margazhi festival in 2012.

“I have been singing for the past several years and even when I was the chairman of the Isro. I am a regular at Chembai festival in Guruvayoor since 2008. It has been my innate desire for music that has kept me singing even during the busy Isro days. I would find at least half an hour daily to practice music. Music also has been a stress buster for me all these days,” he said.

“Singing before music connoisseurs of Chennai is the ultimate thing for Carnatic singers. Their response to my rendering also has been encouraging,” he said.
His memoir, he said, is expected to come out in November.

“Since my retirement, I have been busy with writing the book on my life experiences and giving lectures,” he said. He started learning music in 1995 has learned music under Vechur Harihara Subramanyam from Thiruvanthapuram.
Later he became disciple to R.S. Ramakanth and Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana.
