No point raising hopes, says M K Raghavan

He also hinted at how much the nation's GDP was affected after the Centre's demonetisation policies.

KOZHIKODE: In the backdrop of demonetisation, the state cannot hope on scoring any major gains in the Union budget, said Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan. He added that even when the announcements were big, the Centre fails in implementing the projects, pointing out the state of proposed Ayurveda research institute, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Global Ayurveda Fest held here last year as an example.

"In Kinalur, 275 acres of land was offered for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This might be one of the biggest dreams of the state that remains unfulfilled. A promise for the same was made way back in 2014, when the project was announced for the state," the MP said, adding that the economic survey that was tabled in Parliament gives no hope on the budget. The MP said that no major projects announced in the last budget were materialised and the state fears that the same misfortune would follow this time also. He also hinted at how much the nation's GDP was affected after the Centre's demonetisation policies.
