Vijayawada: A registered medical practitioner (RMP) created confusion and panic during the funeral of a 12-year-old girl, Sai Durga, who was declared dead at the Vijayawada Government Hospital on Saturday.
The girl swooned and fell down in school and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors informed the relatives that she was in coma. After a few hours, she was declared dead.
When the funeral rites were on, the RMP said he had noticed a slight movement and claimed that the girl was alive. Relatives rushed to the hospital with the body and staged a dharna. Later, doctors from three private hospitals confirmed that the girl was dead.
The hospital superintendent said in a statement that the confusion was caused by the RMP. Health minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas made inquiries and said action would be taken after getting all reports.
