Hyderabad: A TRS functionary attempted self-immolation on Wednesday in the presence of transport minister P. Mahender Reddy at Tandur of Vikarabad district. The person, identified as Ayub Khan, gave a speech on the stage and later attempted suicide.
“The activists present there tried to put off the fire and rescued him,” said the police. He was later shifted to Hyderabad for treatment. Cops are ascertaining the reason behind his extreme step. The transport minister had visited Tandur to attend a meeting.
According to sources, Mr Khan was trying to get a post in the party and was reportedly upset at the delay.
