Hyderabad: Credit to welfare sector to be highest

Nabard has estimated the aggregate credit potential of Rs 21,179 crore under the agri term lending investment credit.

Hyderabad: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has projected the highest credit to the priority sector in Telangana State in 2019-20 financial year. Agriculture and allied sectors were placed second in the annual credit plan of Nabard released by chief secretary S.K. Joshi for 2019-20.

For the priority sector, the Nabard credit plan allocates Rs 1,01,378.60 crore and for agriculture and allied sectors Rs 61,457 crore. Marketing, land development and other infrastructure facilities get Rs 2,318 crore, food, agro and agriculture assisted activities Rs 7,189 crore, micro, small and medium industries Rs 1,008 crore.

In the credit projection for agriculture and allied sectors, 30 per cent of the funds will be lent to agri investment activities. Nabard has estimated the aggregate credit potential of Rs 21,179 crore under the agri term lending investment credit.

Mr Joshi said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had designed several novel schemes with foresight. He instructed officials to supply quality seeds and fertilisers to farmers. He asked bankers to give timely loans to farmers.
