Task Force sought for Wakf affairs

Hyderabad: The Wakf Board has resolved to constitute a task force comprising officials drawn from police and revenue departments in order to check encroachments on Wakf properties.

The board has decided to urge the state government to depute one DSP rank officer, an inspector of police and one tahsildar rank officer from the revenue department so that the task force’ could discharge its duties with authority.

This was resolved during a meeting of the Board, the first in eight months, which was chaired by Mr Mohammed Saleem.

They debated over the alienation of Wakf land in Maheshwaram by the management of Muslim Maternity Hospital. The matter was referred to a sub-committee on administration, which will shortly chalk out a comprehensive plan to protect the prime property that is estimated at `2,000 crore.
