Hyderabad: Banking operations were hit in about 4,000 branches in TS and AP due to the bankers’ strike on Friday. Addressing a protest held at the SBH at Gunfoundry, United Forum of Bank Unions general secretary and All India Bank Employees Association secretary B. Seetha Rambabu said clearing operations across the two states were paralysed as almost 70,000 employees working in various banks participated in the stir.

He said that the struggle would continue across the country till the government rolls back its decision on merging and privatisation of banks. “We are demanding the government to withdraw its decision of merging SBH with the SBI and steps being taken to privatise the IDBI. About 4,000 branches in both TS and AP remained shut on Friday as part of the strike. Processions were held at all important locations across both the states,” he said. About 10 lakh bank employees and officers took part in the nation-wide bank strike.
