Chennai: The Madras high court on Friday dismissed a petition from the DMK, which sought a direction to the Election Commission of India to transfer more than 50 high ranking officials, including some IAS and IPS officers, who are allegedly acting in favour of the ruling AIADMK party. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M.M.Sundresh dismissed the petition filed by DMK represented by its organisation secretary R.S.Bharathi.

The bench said, “The petitioner, recognized political party, has objections for large number of officers from the bureaucratic cadre being posted where they are.

They made representation to the Election Commission and it is the say of the counsel for the Election Commission that wherever substantive reason is found, transfers have been made.
