Cong will be reduced from 44 to 4: Javadekar attacks Rahul for mocking Modi

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said it shows the frustration and disappointment of the grand old party.

New Delhi: Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday hit out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for constantly attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation.

Javadekar said it shows the frustration and disappointment of the grand old party.

"The people will yet again teach them a lesson. First, they were 404 which reduced to 44 and now only four will be left," Javadekar said in a sarcastic tone.

"When we levelled allegations against them in the 2G scam, CWG, the court found them correct and the allotment was cancelled. And the allegations which they are putting against us have been already been dismissed by the court and hold no relevance," he added.

Hailing the decision of the Prime Minister to demonetise high-denomination notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000, Javadekar said no matter what happens the opposition won't be able to incline people against the government.

"The nation has openly welcomed the Prime Minister's decision to ban Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes. The people have belief that this is a big step taken against black money, corruption and terrorism. Opposition tried so much to incite people, but they could not. People have stood by the decision, but the opposition is failing to understand this," he told ANI.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir also struck the same chord and asked Gandhi not to waste his time by levelling baseless charges against the government.

"It is the opposition's work to hinder the government's work, but I think Rahul Gandhi ji is wasting his time. We have received acceptance from the people of India. The Prime Minister has taken the decision taking into consideration everything," Ahir told ANI.

"Prime Minister Modi's government showed the courage to take such a decision. What Rahul Gandhi is portraying of himself is not even acceptable by the people. His attempt to unite the entire opposition also failed," he added.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of protecting black money hoarders and demanded that the names of Swiss account holders be revealed to the nation.
