Demonetisation: 'Bharat Bandh' receives lukewarm response in Bengaluru

Only a couple of schools had holiday, fearing violence.

Bengaluru: The all-India protest call given by the united opposition against demonetisation received a lukewarm response in the city as normal life was not affected. All the organisations that extended support to the Aakrosh Diwas, said that no bandh call had been given and that it was a misinformation campaign by the ruling NDA. Though the Congress and other parties had said that there would be no bandh, there was a buzz that the government may withdraw KSRTC, BMTC and Metro services. But all the services remained intact, while Congress and Left parties held protest rallies separately in the city. Bengaluru University had postponed its undergraduate exams scheduled for Monday as a precautionary measure, but held classes as per schedule. Only a couple of schools had holiday, fearing violence.
