K Kavitha sees plot to defame Hyderabad city

Only part of Hyderabad flooded: TRS MP K Kavitha.

Hyderabad: The TRS says that the recent rains were not as bad for the city as they were made out to be by a section of the media. In fact, it sees it as a conspiracy to defame brand Hyderabad.

Despite hundreds of crores of damage to public infrastructure and private property, not to mention the extreme inconvenience that the population went through thanks to the rains and the resultant waterlogging and breakdown of infrastructure, TRS MP K. Kavitha said on Wednesday, “Out of 24 circles in GHMC, only five were affected by heavy downpour. But it’s projected as if entire Hyderabad was sunk. Some people are deliberately trying to dent Hyderabad’s image.

“I request a section of media and critics to observe restraint. We saw it during the Telangana movement.” The MP was seemingly oblivious to the fact that just because prime localities like Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills were not inundated, it did not mean that the rest of the city did not suffer.

While on one hand the TRS tried to portray that the damages were not as bad as they were made out to be, on the other hand, the party criticised Union minister Venkaiah Naidu for not visiting Telangana to access the situation as he had done for Andhra Pradesh. It also castigated T-Congress president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mr Shabbir Ali and leaders of other Opposition parties for politicking over the Mid Manair breach and relief measures in rain-hit areas.

“We will make Hyderabad a truly global city. All encroachments of nalas and water bodies will be dealt with mercilessly. The government has sanctioned '30 crore for repair of roads,” said Ms Kavitha. One fails to see where the conspiracy was.
