Give us justice not Eamcet-3, say rankers

Top performers are against repeat test. Claim there's no time to prepare again.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is being pushed into a tight corner on the Eamcet-2 question paper leak scandal. While there has been a demand to cancel the test altogether to ensure justice to meritorious medical aspirants, top performers on Thursday came on to the streets urging the government not to hold another entrance test.

Students, parents and their relatives as well as several activists from the
Aam Aadmi Party’s Telangana unit staged a protest in front of the Secretariat on Thursday.

Most of the students who achieved below 1000 ranks, demanded the government to take strict action against the students who indulged in malpractices but not punish thousands of others like them.

Social activist Mr P. L. Vishweshwar Rao also demanded the resignation of minister Laxma Reddy for the whole mess. “Why should students be made to suffer again with a fresh entrance test after having written two similar tests – Eamcet-1 and Eamcet-2?” he asked.

The protestors were later removed by cops. Meanwhile, students and parents from the districts too came in front of the press, urging the government not to make them go through the pain of writing another entrance test. Jeevan Reddy from Nalgonda, who scored a below 200 rank in Eamcet-2, demanded stern against the guilty students.

Another woman candidate, who got 962 rank, felt it would be very difficult to prepare again in such a short time. A few rankers and parents also met deputy Chief Minister and education minister Kadiyam Srihari and urged him not to cancel Eamcet-2.

Protests were also held by the Nirudyoga JAC in front of OU and by the ABVP in front of JNTU on Eamcet-2 paper leak issue. Leaders demanded resignations of ministers Kadiyam Srihari and Laxma Reddy.
