Coimbatore: Police arrested a 30-year-old woman for poisoning her own child over an extramarital affair near Sarvanamapatti in the suburbs of Coimbatore. She staged a drama as if the child had gone missing.
On receiving information from residents of Saravanampatti about a small girl child lying dead near Karattumedu on Monday morning, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Simultaneously, a 30-year-old woman identified as Rubini from Karamadai-Velliyankaadu was roaming near Saravanampatti on Sunday evening and searching for her missing child.
When police showed the body of the child to her, Rubini admitted that it was her baby and claimed that she was not aware how it happened. On suspicion, police took her into custody. During investigation Rubini confessed to poisoning her three-year-old daughter in league with her lover, Tamil, 36, who is on the run after thrashing the baby to death and disposing of the body in the foothills of Karattumedu.
Police arrested Rubina and launched a search for Tamil. Further investigations are on.
