Hyderabad: Utilize holidays well - Khateebs

Since they have no place to go during the holidays, they get a chance to interact with with day students during the summer.

Hyderabad: With summer holidays on, religious heads are urging parents to enrol their children into ‘Deeni Tarbiyat’ (special classes) so that they can learn the basics of Islam. Most Khateebs, while delivering the Friday sermons, urged parents that they teach the basics of religion to their children.

Maulana Abdul Hai said, “Parents should strive to teach their kids the values of Islam. However, this being the good season of holidays, parents may enrol their kids in the deeni tarbiyat classes that are held every year during summer holidays for a period of two months.”

He noted, “Parents can sign up their kids with their respective area mosques. The advantage of enrolling children is that they will learn the basics of Islam and classes are free of cost.”

Maulana Afzal Ali Shah, head, Madarsa e Barkatiya, said, “In our madrasa, there are 82 orphan students. Since they have no place to go during the holidays, they get a chance to interact with with day students during the summer. We offer special classes for day students.”

Shaik Altaf, a resident of Tolichowki said, “The deeni classes are held every year in our area mosque during summer holidays and I ensure that both my sons attend those classes.” They have been attending these special classes for the past four years and have benefited a lot from them.”

“Generally school children in the holiday season are engrossed in physical activities and we encourage it. At the same time, we urge parents to send their children to mosques or madarsas for 2 to 3 hours a day so that the deeni taleem can be imparted to them and they become good citizens by understanding Islam and the principles of Prophet Muhammad,” explained Maulana Abdul Hai.
