Khammam: Changing loyalties of leaders irks voters

Politicians may not have conscience, but citizens do.

Khammam: Despite the legislators of Congress, Telugu Desam and an Indepenent in the limits of Khammam Lok Sabha constituency have changed their loyalties, it seems there is no shift in the mindset of the voters. The opinions of varied section of people in these segments have revealed this phenomenon.

If one can check the total MLAs and big shots batting for the TRS, one is bound to state, “The winning of Nama Nageswara Rao is imminent.”

V. Nagi Reddy, a teacher in Nelakondapalli said, “In Palair Assembly segment, both the MLAs K. Upender Reddy and his rival Tummala Nageswara Rao are working for Nama Nageswara Rao. It means that Nama should get at least 60,000 majority in only Palair segment in the present elections. There is no such scenario here and the Congress may get more than Mr Upender Reddy in this elections”.

Most of the voters are unable to digest Mr Upender Reddy shifting to the TRS before the general elections. They had voted him as a Congress candidate with love and affection.

Kothagudem Assembly segment also witnessed such a situation. Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao, who was elected from the Congress, he declared he would sail with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Mr Rao and his rival Mr Jalagam are now campaigning for Mr Nama. If the chemistry works, Mr Nama should obtain a majority of 50,000 votes.

TD leader Koneru Satyanarayana, said that the people of Kothagudem were unable to bear the above combination.

The situation in Sattupalli is also the same. TD MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and his rival Pidamarthi Ravi are campaigning in favour of TRS candidate.

T. Ramu, a mason said, “It is difficult to see such combinations. We did not forget the allegations and counter allegations by the two leaders against each other three months back. The scene now is awkward and embarrassing.”

The mind of Khammam voters is not different from Sattupalli voters. Puvvada Ajay fought against Mr Nama, in the Assembly elections and found fault with him on each and every occasion.

Interestingly, three TRS corporators of Khammam municipal corporation, who joined the Telugu Desam under the initiative of Mr Nama before the Assembly elections, are in a strange situation now.

P. Sankar, an electrician, said, “The three corporators will not forget this in their lifetime”.

Many of the ruling party corporators, have been privately expressing their opposition over the prevailing situation in the elections.

M. Sampath, a political analyst said, “There is a big discussion among the people over the campaigning of Madanlal, a defeated MLA and Ramulu Naik, elected MLA as an independent who joined the TRS from Wyra. Both are working together for the win of Mr Nama Nageswara Rao.”

He said that such combinations may have a huge impact on the minds of the voters. There is every chance that they may vote against the will of these two.
